Good Idea, Bad Idea--I want to know what you think
so should i participate in a herpes study? NO i do not have herpes (they want to study clean people anyway) and i get paid $40 per visit and it's 9 visits over the course of 20 months. i need to find out more info, but what do you think? i'm desperate for $$ so i'm seriously considering it.

depends on what on you they want to study...
yeah.... i would say if the other parts of the study don't sound too bad or creepy, go for it. But maybe you should see if you can find a different study - not something so creepy-like.
i know people who would actually get herpes if they were paid 360 bucks.

as long as it is legit and through slu or something comparable and like out of a magazine ad it should be fine and you should go for it
there was a sex study here at knox. it involved video porn, vibrators, and weird odors. it was done by the sex psychologist who wanted to study how odor affected sexual arrousal. it was odd. they measured your arousal with a tampon like-thermometer to measure the temp of your vagina. and boys had to where this little metal ring to measure how engorged their penis was. you got $30 bucks for just one time that took like 45 minutes. i wanted to do it, but it was full already.
but basically margaret, if it's legit and good money, do it. if it seems a little fishy, then maybe back out. you can always back out in studies, that's the good part about science studies. you can always say "oops, never mind. i don't want to do this". and they say "ok" and you're free to go. of course, then you don't get the money.
yea, it's through slu (laura, check your mailbox (get a key) and it should be in there; or just go to health and services and tell them you heard about it and ask for more info), and i got this letter in the mail about it. hmm, maybe i will...i need to find out more info.
i was going to do this study for the plague and the people were really cool about answering ?s and made me feel really at ease about it. so if you have ?s or concerns ask them cause they will answer and try to accommodate you. i couldnt do my study cause i dont have the time to go back to stl to do it. but yeah anyhoo, i say go for it!
