Great! My name is Anna, and I'm with the Human Rights Campaign. We're the nation's largest gay and lesbian civil rights group. We're out here today signing up new members, so I'm really glad that you stopped. (insert clipboard) Here, take a look at this. Right now, we're continuing our fight against discrimination.

As you probably know, the religious right and their allies in Congress are trying to ammend the U.S. Constitution to ban marriage for same sex couples. This would be the first time ever that the Constitution is changed to take away the rights of a specific group of people.

Now, thanks to a lot of public support, we convinced Congress to reject this in 2004. But the issue will definitely come up again, so it's very important that we continue to build support from fair-minded people like yourselves, and that's why we're out here today.

So, the best way you can support this effort right now is to become an HRC Partner. Partners give a small monthly contribution through a credit card or checking account, and this is a great way to help us out because it keeps our overhead costs down and it gives us the ongoing support it takes to keep having a big impact.
