I've heard that it was pretty damn good (from a cinematic standpoint), but I guess I won't find out for myself until Wednesday.

jesus people, it is a fucking movie... i was just disappointed and giving my opinion. i didn't think i was being too over analytical or anything, and for the record hovis, i enjoy harry potter very much, have read all the books, and liked the last 3 movies. i know that i wouldn't consider YOUR opinion invalid.

seriously hovis- that was stupid.

but dailee- i kinda agree- i saw it last night and i thought it left a lot to be desired. the third was better, thinks i. but the fact that i saw it on an imax screen made it better. and the fact that i was sitting next to the guy i really like made it even more better.....

Okay yeah I agree now. It was pretty bad. There was just so much they had to put in one movie that they had to remove so much that the flow of the movie kinda lurched forward after each scene ended. And Stu, it's cinematically horrible. The few times the director actually employed the use of cinematography were so forced and just plain cheezy that it was hard to take the movie seriously at parts.

They really weren't able to focus on anything. No central or secondary theme, no subplot, nothing. The movie was just too broad and as the books get longer, it's going to be even more difficult to cut them down for time and still have a cohesive plot.

oh, i liked it. yes, there was too much to put into one movie, but for what it was i thought they did a great job. While the third movie was my favorite, this was a really good one. Definitely better than the first two. The only part I had a problem with was the "flavor" of the ending. The book ended really darkly, but the movie was just kind of like "oh, voldemort's back! ok, lets go have fun. man, i love you guys." kind of stupid compared to the book. but again, i really liked the movie except for the end. yes, there were certain things cut out, but do you know how long the movie would be otherwise? my rating: A-- (since it was necessary to cut so much...and the only thing that sucked was the ending)
